Bhubaneswar, Aug 13 (LocalWire): The Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar, a constituent body of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today said that the recent sero survey of Berhampur hinted that one third of the Ganjam Capital has been exposed to Coronavirus.
Sanghamitra Pati, Director of RMRC said that the recent serological testing done in Berhmapur showed the sero prevalence of 31 per cent.“This showed that 31 per cent of the studied sample had developed antibodies against the virus.
The trend shows that 1.5 lakh people of the city have been exposed to the virus,” she said.
She said that a total of 2830 persons had been selected from five urban slums and other high risk groups and their samples were tested during the first week of August.
She said that 4 Wards of the city reported more than 50 per cent prevalence while the prevalence ranged from 7 per cent to 60 percent in different areas.
She also said that 90 per cent of the people who developed antibodies against the disease had no symptoms.
