Berhampur: Dec 30 (LocalWire) Police Monday arrested 11 more persons from Landeihill village in Ganjam district for illegal stone quarrying taking the total arrest to 41 since July.
Police have seized explosive materials, including 24 gelatin sticks, 25 detonators, five tractors and few vehicles during the raids, police officer Sabyasachi Malla said.
Five persons managed to flee, he added.
Those arrested are from Baragon, Rambha, Gunduribadi and Sidhanai, near Aska, he said.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the persons who escaped.
Earlier, police had arrested at least 30 persons from different areas in the district for illegal stone quarries.
Police started the crackdown after two school students of a local upper primary school sustained injuries in an illegal quarry blasting at Magura village on July 20.
