Jagatsinghpur, June 15 (LocalWire): Scheduled Tribes here have filed a case in Orissa High Court against officials for not providing them pucca houses under government sponsored schemes.
Sources said that nearly 12 poor families of ST community, mostly daily wagers, are living in pathetic conditions in Salijanaga village under Naugaon block.
These families received the record of rights (ROR) of the land provided to them in 2019, after which, they have been residing there in thatched houses on the acquired land.
During last year’s Cyclone ‘Fani’, their houses were damaged and now they are living in houses covered by polythene sheets, in pathetic conditions.
They have not yet been provided pucca houses under government sponsored schemes, either Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.
Being harried, these people have filed writ in Orissa High Court against Principal Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Odisha, Collector of Jagatsinghpur, Project Director, DRDA, BDO & Tahsildar Naugoan and Panchayat Executive Officer.
They have also urged to issue rules NISI against these officials as to why they have not yet provided pucca houses under government sponsored schemes.
Project Director, DRDA Sarojkant Mohanty has informed, “There is provision to include their names under socio economic caste census for obtaining housing scheme from government sponsored schemes.
Besides this, administration has also prepared a permanent waiting list (PWL) for eligibility to avail this scheme.
Steps have been taken to provide these beneficiaries housing schemes if their name will be enlisted in this list,” he added.
