Bhubaneswar, July 26 (LocalWire): Fourteen physically-impaired fencers will represent the state in the 12th national Wheelchair Fencing Championship to be held between 26 and 28 July at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
The event is being organized by Tamil Nadu Wheelchair Fencing Association under the auspices of Wheelchair Fencing and Amputee Sports of India.
The 14-member team from the state includes seven men and seven women.
The championship is conducted under the federation of the International Paralympic Committee to encourage the physically-challenged people of the society.
It was featured at the first Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960 and developed by Sir Ludwig Gutmann, founder of the Paralympic movement.
