Kendrapara, April 28 (LocalWire): Elaborate arrangements have been made in this coastal district for the smooth conduct of the fourth phase of elections.
The election commission has also decided to monitor 143 critical polling booths in Kendrapada district through web-casting.
The live video from these booths will be directly monitored by the Election Commission in the control room of the district and at the CEO’s office in Bhubaneswar,’ said Sanjay Mishra, the sub-Collector of Kendrapara.
‘We have decided to cover 28 polling booths in Patkura, 23 in Kendrapara, 28 in Aul, 33 in Rajnagar and 31 in Mahakalapada constituencies,’ he added.
The district administration has also procured solar lanterns for all the 1438 polling stations in the Kendrapara Parliamentary constituency spread over seven Assembly segments of Kendrapara, Rajnagar, Aul, Mahakalapada, Patkura in Kendrapada district and Salipur and Mahanga in Cuttack district will go to polls in fourth phase on 29 April, Mishra said.
The prominent Lok Sabha candidates in the fray include BJP national vice- President Baijayant Panda, senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Anubhav Mohanty and Congress leader and senior lawyer Dharanidhar Nayak.
Polling will also be held for the six Assembly seats of Mahakalapada, Rajnagar, Aul, Kendrapada, Mahanga and Salipur under Kendrapada Lok Sabha seat. But Patkura Assembly poll was countermanded following the death of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla on 20 April and the EC on Wednesday issued a fresh polling schedule on May 19.
Kendrapada witnessed high-voltage campaigns by the state and national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Senior BJP leader and the Union minister of Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Vedprakasah Goyal also campaigned in favour of BJP in the district.
The Congress camp witnessed people like Raj Babbar, Sharmistha Mukherjee a senior Congress leader and daughter of former President of India Pranab Mukherjee and others campaigning in favour of their candidates.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also vigorously campaigned in favour of BJD candidates by criss-crossing across the district in a bus.
Meanwhile, Jyoti Prakash Ghose, the election agent of Baijayant Panda in a letter to the CEO on Sunday urged for the deployment of Central paramilitary forces for booth no 167 in village Godhana under Patkura segment, all the booths in village Ganeswarapur under Salipur Assembly segment, booths of village Potiabadiha under Patkura Assembly segment and booths in village Khurasia under Mahakalapada Assembly segment under Kendrapada Lok Sabha seat.
