Bhubaneswar, Nov 25 (LocalWire): Odisha Police have gunned down 165 hardened criminals and injured 187 lawbreakers in the past one decade from 2010 till 20 November, 2019, the minister of Home (independent charge) Dibya Shakar Mishra told the Assembly in a written reply.
All those killed or injured were hardened criminals and were operating crime syndicates across the state.
The state witnessed 43 cases of custodial deaths from 2010-19, he added.
Of all the police stations in the state, Angul police station registered the highest number of cases while Papermetla police station recorded the lowest number of cases in 2018, the minister said without reeling out the exact number of registered cases in both the police stations.
During the exchange of fire reported since 2010, the criminals were the aggressors.
Police were forced to fire at them in self defence.
The criminals were caught in crossfire and killed, said a senior police official.
