Bhubaneswar, July 25 (LocalWire): The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today said that a total of 167 Coronavirus patients with no or mild symptoms opted for home isolation in the city.
BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury today held a press conference and claimed that out of the 167 such patients, 46 have also recovered while staying at home.
The official said that there was no death of hospital beds to cater to the needs of Coronavirus patients in the city but the department has planned to keep them reserved for critical patients of the global pandemic.
He also said that the city has now Covid Care Homes, Covid Care Centres and also two Covid Hospitals.
Choudhury also admitted that the civic bodies faced several resistance from different quarters against the home isolation facilities from the public.
“In the starting we faced some resistance from the people in many areas but we roped in our volunteers and apprised them about the health and safety standards and safeguards,” he said.
The state government recently amended norms and allowed home isolation of asymptomatic persons with mild symptoms home isolation in case they have no comorbidities and are not elderly.
