Bhubaneswar, Aug 30 (LocalWire): The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today said that a total of 17 people from the state have lost their lives till now in floods in the state.
A bulletin today from the department said that 20 districts from the state have been affected with heavy rains and flood threats.
SRC Pradeep Jena today said that out of five rivers affected, condition in three rivers has improved while the Mahanadi still was a concern as the water levels and flow were at peak at Munduli today.
“Due to the water levels at Munduli, its impact could be seen in Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts.
However the condition is likely to improve by Monday morning,” he said.
Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today said that adequate rescue and response teams are on their toes to act during the disaster situations.
He also informed the media that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would conduct an aerial survey of affected regions of the state on Monday.
The state government officials today said that the water levels at Baitarani, Brahmani and Budhabalang have decreased and the areas close to the catchment areas have started seeing improvement in Jajpur, Kendrapara and other areas.
