Berhampur, Feb 1 (LocalWire) Ahead of the twin elections in the state for the state Assembly and Lok Sabha, as many as 18 police officers, in the rank of inspectors in the southern police range, have been transferred.
The southern police range is consisting of five police districts, including Berhampur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Boudh.
The transfer was made keeping in view of the guidelines of the Election Commission of Indian (ECI), vacancy position, administrative requirements and interest of public services, said the order issued by the DIG (Southern range) Asish Kumar Singh on Thursday evening.
According to the order, seven police officers in Ganjam police district, six in Berhampur and five in Gajapati districts have been transferred. The police officers have asked to immediate join their new place of posting.
Similarly, several officers in the rank of assistant sub inspector of police, have also been transferred to different police districts in the range.
A senior police officer said more number of police officers would be transferred to other places in these districts as per the guideline of the ECI.
Another list of transfer order is likely to be issued soon, he said.
The ECI has recently directed the state government to transfer all the officers, who have completed three years in a posting or serving in their home district, sources said
