Berhampur, August 29 (LocalWire): Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday found properties worth over Rs 1.98 crore from a teacher couple working in Bauribandhu Palo High School Ganju, near here.
The properties included five residential plots in Berhampur (Rs 44.80 lakhs), a three-storied and another double-storied building worth Rs 82.82 lakhs and Rs 37.14 lakhs respectively in the name of Sadanand Padhy, the head master in-charge of the school and his wife Jyostna Rani Patra, who is an assistant teacher in the school.
They also found household articles valued at Rs 2.59 lakhs, gold ornaments worth 250 grams (Rs 4.07 lakh), silver ornaments worth Rs 16,600, bank and post office deposits over Rs 17 lakhs and insurance premium (Rs 3.12 lakh).
The couple has two vehicles worth Rs 1.98 lakh.
During the search, the officers also found Rs 3.46 lakh cash from the couple, said vigilance SP (Berhampur) Mayadhar Swain.
The couple worked in the school management quota.
They were appointed as block grant teachers since 2007.
Presently, each of them gets Rs 49,000 as salary per month.
‘We are verifying their assets and earnings,’ said the SP.
Earlier, the anti-corruption wing raided the houses of Padhy to unearth his disproportionate assets.
