Berhampur, Oct 7 (LocalWire): At least two out of 22 blocks in Ganjam district have become “Corona free blocks”, as all the active COVID-19 patients in them have been cured.
The district’s total number of recovered cases has crossed 20,000 and the rate of recovery stands at 97.7 percent.
Polasara and Dharakote have became corona free blocks, as no COVID positive cases have been detected there for over one week, while another five blocks are likely to be free from coronavirus soon, as each of these blocks have only one active case and there has been no fresh case for last one week, sources said.
The blocks which have only one active positive case are Belaguntha, Chikiti, Digapahandi, Sanakhemundi and Patrapur, sources said.
Similarly, Sheragada and Kabisurya Nagar blocks have each two positive cases, at present, sources added.
Polasara and Dharakote – the two blocks which saw the return of many migrants, had 587 and 356 positive cases, respectively, while seven and five deaths had been reported.
Moreover, the district’s first COVID case was detected from Dharakote on May 2, while the first Covid death was reported from Polasara on May 6.
“On the way to mission zero active cases, Polasara and Dharakote blocks have zero active COVID cases at present,” said district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
“Our micro-level planning with Mission Zero Active case has yielded results,” added the collector.
Meanwhile, the district’s COVID recovered cases reached 20,003-the second highest in the state after Khurda.
The recovery rate stood at 97.7 percent. With 47 new positive cases detected, the district’s total COVID-19 cases were increased to 20,467, while the total number of active cases reduced to 235, sources added.
The death toll in the district remained at 221, as there was no report of death in Covid-19, officially for the last three days, sources added.
