Berhampur, Jan 28 (LocalWire) As many as 29 Class IX girl students of government-run residential school at Antaraba in Gajapati district’s Mohana block, were rescued at midnight from Tangilipadara, near Chandragiri, about 20-km from their school, said police on Monday.
The students had left the hostel early Sunday to meet district collector Anupam Saha at Paralakhemundi to present their grievance against the school.
They alleged that their study is being affected due to lack of coordination among the teachers.
“After a day-long through search, we traced them at a house at Tangilipadara. All students have been sent back to the school,” said District Welfare Officer (DWO) Santosh Kumar Rath.
He said the students were counseled in presence of their parents on Monday.
They have also promised not to indulge in such activities in future, he said.
The DWO said he is conducting an inquiry into the incident, as per the direction of the collector.
Besides, police is also making a separate inquiry into the matter.
“We will recommend the collector to take action against the people found guilty in the incident,” said Rath.
