Kendrapara, July 8 (LocalWire): Tension was palpable in Sasana village under Pattamundai police station in Kendrapara district where a three-year-old boy was inadvertently left locked-up at the Anganwadi centre today.
Agitated parents demanded stern action against the helper who overlooked the sleeping child.
Ayushman Mallick’s parents began searching for him when he did not return home from the anganwadi centre.
They contacted the anganwadi helper whose duty it is to lock the classrooms. She rushed to the centre and opened the classroom to find him unconscious.
The child was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital and doctors declared his condition to be stable.
‘The anganwadi centre closed at 1pm and the helper locked the center but she failed to check the room properly before locking.
The child was sleeping in a classroom and was locked out,’ said Abhimany Dhal, a villager.
Sulochana Das, the helper admitted that she closed the centre without properly checking all rooms.
