Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (LocalWire): Noted Odia poet Sri Nityanand Nayak has been awarded the prestigious 41st Sarala Puraskar for his poetry work “Setebelaku Nathiba”.
Published by Friends Publishers, Binod Bihari, Cuttack in 2017, Nayak will received a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000 along with a citation.
While Ranjit Kumar Nag has been awarded “Ila Panda Sangeet Samman”, Shyamsundar Pattanaik will receive “Ila Panda Chitrakala Samman”.
A cash award of Rs. 1,50,000 accompanies these awards.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards will be conferred personally, without any public function.
The annually awarded Sarala Puraskar was instituted by eminent Odia industrialist, late Dr. Bansidhar Panda and his wife, late Mrs. Ila Panda in the year 1980.
It is awarded every year by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT). IMPaCT is the charity wing of IMFA Ltd., leading producer of ferro alloys in India.
While the Sarala Puraskar has made a place for itself amongst the leading literary awards in the state to glorify and promote Odia literature, the Ekalavya Puraskar was instituted by IMPaCT to encourage promising sports talents of Odisha.
