Berhampur, Jan 30 (LocalWire): The Berhampur vigilance division registered at least three different cases against five, including the ex-headmasters, and chairperson of the school management committee in last one year for allegedly misappropriating the funds for the construction of the school buildings in Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
Santanu Padhy, the additional superintendent, Berhampur, informed Localwire, “We are investigating the allegations after registering the cases. Proper action will be taken against the accused after completing the investigation.”
The latest case was registered against Chandramani Sabara and Bhaskar Pradhan, the headmaster and chairperson of the Upper primary school respectively at Samantarapur in the Patrapur block in Ganjam district on December 31, 2019, for misappropriation of Rs 1, 47,300 without completing the construction of the building in the last seven years.
The government had sanctioned for the construction of additional classrooms in the school in 2012-13, sources told LocalWire.
The anti-corruption agency also registered cases against Sankuntala Pradhan and Utkal Pradhan, the former headmistress and headmaster of Sidhipur New UP School in the Polasara block, Ganjam, on June 29 2019, for the alleged misappropriation of around Rs 2.58 lakh by constructing sub-standard school building works, informed Padhy.
Padhy told us that they had also registered a case against R. Srinu, the former headmaster of Sana Sankuda Primary School in Gajapati’s Rayagada block on March 20 2019, for the misappropriation of about Rs 3 lakh without constructing the school building.
One of the accused claimed that he was innocent. “Truth will come out after proper investigation is held,” Pathy said. The other accused have, however, not been available to comment about the allegation.
