Keonjhar, Dec 10 (LocalWire): About 50 farmers were detained by police here on Monday on charges of staging a protest without permission of the district administration.
The farmers had staged a convention in front of the district collectorate against government apathy towards them, said activist Kirtan Jena.
“Police vandalized the stage set up by farmers’ body Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) and took about 50 activists into its custody,” he said.
Town police station sub-inspector Ranjan Biswal said: “The farmers had informed the district administration that they will stage a protest. But they were not granted permission for the same.”
