Bhubaneswar, Oct 31 (LocalWire) BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi today said that there was no need to create a separate power centre in Odisha on the plea 5T initiative.
“It is nothing but to undermine the efficiency of other government departments including its ministers and secretaries”, the former IAS officer said.
As part of its efforts to get closer to people and provide good governance, the Odisha government had recently introduced the 5T (Teamwork, Technology, Transparency, Time leading to Transformation) initiative.
VK Pandian, private secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has been given the additional charge of the initiative.
“5T is not an innovative concept. It’s an old one and was being taught about it during (my) IAS training”, Sarangi, who quit IAS to successfully contest Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat in 2019 elections, said.
Stating that she wondered as to why the BJD government introduced the initiative after 20 years of rule in the state, she said the government appears to have now realised that there has been no good governance so far.
Asking as to whether the government is questioning the ability of the ministers and secretaries in important departments like home and health, she said instead of 5T initiative all department secretaries should be empowered to be able to implement the government schemes successfully.
One officer should not take all the credits in the name of 5T, she said.
