Paradip, Jan 3 (LocalWire) The 16th Paradip Marathon 2019 was conducted by the Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad of Paradip Port Trust on Thursday on occasion of Port Foundation Day.
Paradip Port Trust (PPT) chairman Rinkesh Roy flagged off the marathon at Hanuman Temple Square.
As many as 670 participants, including 600 men and 70 women, ran the marathon that covered a route of 14 km and concluded at Gopabandhu Stadium.
Kailash Kumbhar of Odisha Police won the first prize in the men’s category by completing the distance in 43 minutes 42.1 seconds, followed by Capt. Purty of Jharkhand (43 minutes 55.8 seconds) and Mukund Banra of Jharkhand (44 minutes 8.6 seconds).
In the women’s category, Samsad Ara Begum of SAI, Cuttack won the first prize (48 minutes 39.4 seconds), followed by Milli Majhi of SAI, Cuttack (59 minutes 22.7 seconds) and Asmita Sethy of Jagatsinghpur (59 minutes 49.4 seconds).
Indian Jr. National Chess Team coach Aparajita Gochhayat and athlete Purnima Hembram were felicitated on the occasion.
