Bhubaneswar, June 24 (LocalWire): The State government today said that the majority of the reported deaths of Coronavirus patients were from patients who were either more than 60 years of age or had comorbidities.
Subroto Bagchi, Chief Spokesperson of Odisha government on Coronavirus said that 11 out of the 24 dead Coronavirus patients had co-morbidities while nine of them were above the age of 60 years.
Bagchi also said that elderly are the most vulnerable to the disease and its severe form. “The RNA among elders gets weak with time and their immunity decreases with time. So they become more vulnerable to Coronavirus deaths if infected,”
He also said that due to lack of hygienic practices and irresponsible behavior many elderly who had never ventured out of their houses during lockdown also succumbed to the disease.
Bagchi asked youths to maintain hygiene to prevent the elders from the disease.
