Berhampur, July 18 (LocalWire): Amid the spike of the Covid-19 cases in Ganjam district, an 85-year old man of Bhanjanagar has defeated the deadly novel coronavirus and completely recovered.
Self-confidence along with abiding by the health department advisories, have helped the man to defeat the deadly disease, said sub collector of Bhanjanagar, Rajendra Kumar Minz.
The old man – father of a policeman, a patient of hypertension and diabetes from Police Colony, Bhanjanagar, was admitted in the COVID center on June 30, after he tested positive. Undergoing eleven days of treatment, he was cured.
One of his relatives, who was also in the same house, also tested positive and was undergoing treatment along with the old man.
The 75-year old woman was also recovered from the deadly disease and walked out from the COVID center along with the old man.
“Since they were old in age, we constantly watched their oxygen level. Though their condition was a little bit troublesome initially, later on they recovered.
They were not put on a ventilator or an ICU,” said a doctor who was attached to treat the patients.
Describing the Covid-19 as the China disease, the old man said initially he was very much nervous after he tested positive to the disease. Chanting the name of God, he was admitted to the hospital.
“The doctor and other health staff visited us regularly and inquired about our health,” he said.
“When I had recovered from the fever and my health gradually improved, I had the confidence to beat the deadly disease,” he said.
Though they were old persons, but could beat the Covid-19 due to following the guidelines of the health department and advice of the doctors, said sub collector Bhanjanagar.
“We are constantly in touch with the duo, during their home quarantine period,” he said.
