Bhubaneswar, June 3 (Local Wire): The state government has now identified nine vulnerable districts of Odisha which are prone to locust attack.
The government officials have also alerted the farmers and the government departments in those areas.
The government meanwhile has also planned its offensive against the likely attack.
A special meeting on the issue was conducted yesterday at the Chief Minister’s Office to discuss the issue.
Special Secretary SK Vashist said that the government would deploy fire tenders which can spray insecticide.
The government officials have also been asked to keep a strict vigilance of those locust prone areas.
Most of these districts are those which are close to the Andhra and Chattisgarh borders.
These identified districts include- Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Bargarh districts.
