Kendrapara, Feb 6 (LocalWire): At least 90 students of the Sidheswar Upper Primary School at the Ghadiamala village under Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district fell ill after they were served midday meal on Thursday afternoon.
Some of the students reported nausea and started vomiting while the others reported of stomach pain.
At least 90 students including 30 girls among them were immediately rushed to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Rajnagar.
When contacted, Manmath Khatua, the headmaster of the school said “167 students were present at the school on Thursday.
We first provided the mid-day meal to 90 students following which some students started vomiting after which we admitted all the students to the hospital.
The doctors told us that students are suffering from convulsion disorder and their condition is stable”.
Ramesh Mallick (9) of class IV, one of the children who fell ill, said that he started vomiting after taking mid-day meal and felt uneasy.
It is wrong on the part of the school authorities to provide mid-day meals to the students without tasting the meal as a result they fell ill, said Ranjan Mallick a local villager.
When contacted, the Dr. Rasmiranjan Mohanty, the medical officer of Rajnagar said, “Many students fell ill after taking midday meal.
We are treating all the students. Their condition is stable as of now.”
