Bhubaneswar, June 3 (Local Wire): The state government on Wednesday said that it will rope in 91 high capacity fire tenders to combat the likely attack of locust in vulnerable areas of the state.
Director General of Fire Services Satyajit Mohanty today gave details of the plan of the government to counter the locust attack threat looming large in nine districts of the state.
“91 high capacity fire tenders of Odisha Fire Service will be pressed into service in the nine high risk districts of western and southern Odisha for responding to locust attack,” said Mohanty.
A meeting to prepare the state against the locust attack was earlier convened yesterday.
The state government has asked the fire department and other concerned government offices to be prepared to counter the attack which is likely to affect the bordering areas of Chattisgarh and Andhra.
