Bhubaneswar, May 26 (Local Wire): The Energy Department in their latest update has claimed that it has restored 99.9 per cent of the power of discoms and consumers post cyclone Amphan.
The State Energy department said that the pre-positioning of department workforce and required works done before the cyclone helped in reducing damages.
It however said that by Monday most of the power issues have been sorted out.
“Around 115 of 33KV feeders which contributes towards Power supply of 342000 consumers were affected under SOUTHCO, NESCO and CESU area due to the cyclone ‘AMPHAN’.
WESCO was not expected to be affected by the cyclone and mobilized its manpower and materials to NESCO.
Restoration started in an hour at lightning speed,” a statement from the department said.
The department said that the power supply for all affected 1,63,765 consumers of SOUTHCO and OPTCL have been restored within one day.
In the latest update the department said that now all grid sub stations are operating normally, all distribution infrastructure upto 11KV is completely restored.
Rectification/strengthening works are continuing to improve safety factors.
