Berhampur, Nov 1 (LocalWire) The Aahar centre at Hinjili in Ganajm district has received ISO certification for quality management system.
The certificate stated that Aahar Kendra managed by Hinjili Municipality near the bus-stand has been found in compliance with requirements of Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015 for the following scope: Provide Meal to Needy People under the Flagship Program “Food for all”.
The ISO certificate was issued valid for three years was issued on Thursday. The standard and maintenance of Aahar centre was at par with world class, the sources said.
The subsidized meal at Rs.five was being provided through this centre to around 500 people every day except government holidays, sources said.
Earlier, the Aahar centre in lower bus-stand area at district headquarter Chhatrpur and the centre at Paralakhemundi in adjoining Gajapati district had got ISO certification for quality management system, the sources said.
The certification assumed significance as Hinjili is the assembly constituency of chief minister Naveen Patnaik. Besides, he had asked his cabinet colleagues and officers to visit Aahar centres in the state and test the quality of subsidized foods being served.
Senior bureaucrats, including chief secretary AK Tripathy and 5T secretary VK Pandian had taken their lunch at the Aahar center at Boudh while MP, Berhampur, Chandra Sekhar Shau and MLA, Berhampur, Bikram Panda had taken the food at an Aahar centre in the town to test the food quality.
The state department of Housing and Urban Development manages a total of 158 Aahar center in Odisha. “Maintaining the quality and standard in all the Aahar centres have been a priority of the department”, said a senior officer.
