Jagatsinghpur, April 16 (LocalWire): Several activists today protested in front of Raghunathpur police station demanding withdrawal of cases booked under Section 107 of CrPC against social activist Soren Rout and several students on the eve of general election to stop them from breaching peace during elections.
Locals from Radhang, Tanra, Purnabasant, Sadeipur, Adheikula and other villages united and congregated at Gopabandhu chowk and took out a rally to Raghunathpur police station.
They demonstrated in front of the police station protesting police action against the innocent people.
Social Activists Gobind Ojha, Subash Chandra Barik, Snehansu Jena, Bijan Kumar Mohapatra and others said ‘none of the people booked have any criminal record.
Instead of taking action against criminals, police is trying to silence the protestors. We want the police to withdraw the case because the activists have been asked to be get bail from a local magistrate.’
‘If the case is not withdrawn, we are ready to go to jail,’ they said.
IIC of Raghunathpur police station Babita Dalai convinced the agitators that the case registered against them was not serious. No NBW will be executed against them if they would not appear before the magistrate.
