Bhubaneswar, Nov 22 (LocalWire) Actress-filmmaker Nandita Das will receive the prestigious FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) Award at the 2th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Brisbane on Nov 29.
“Nandita Das has made an extraordinary contribution to the cinema of Asia Pacific, both on-screen and off,” FIAPF President Luis Alberto Scalella was quoted as saying by media.
“Her works as a director and as an actress met international recognition and her personal commitments in the public debate are reflected in the stories she chooses to bring to the screen,” Scalella added.
Born to renowned Odia painter Jatin Das, Nandita made her mark as an actress with alternative films like “Fire”, “Earth” and “Between The Lines”.
Her first film as a director was “Firaaq” (2008), followed by “Manto” (2018) that was appreciated in film festivals across the world, including Sydney, Toronto and Busan.
