Bhubaneswar, December 23 (LocalWire) : The level of air pollution has assumed alarming proportion in the bustling Jayadev Vihar locality and its adjoining areas in the heart of Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha.
If the air quality report of Skymet is any indication, the air quality index (AQI) level in Jayadev Vihar is assessed at 378 range and PM 2.5 — particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter that lodge deep in the lungs.
The AQI recorded by Skymet at 9.36 am today indicated 342 index in Noida in the National Capital Region while the air quality index was found more polluted in parts of Bhubaneswar during the period.
Sounding warning in view of poor air quality, the Skymet has recommended the use of the ‘face mask’ and air purifier to plug the polluted air from lodging deep into the lungs. It also suggested people from the locality to refrain from outdoor exercise.
Incidentally Jayadev Vihar, being the central junction of the city, bears the load of heavy vehicular traffic. It is surrounded by commercial complexes and thickly populated settlement private colonies.
The AQI assessed at Jagamara locality in the city stood at 365 range while it was 337 range in Macheswar area of the city at 9.36 am.
