Balasore, Oct 31 (LocalWire): An amateur photographer from Balasore is creating waves on social media by clicking pictures of the pupil of the eye.
Sritam Sethy, with a passion for photography, had randomly taken a photograph of the pupil of a person’s eye during Holi and posted it on Instagram.
Online accolades poured in thereafter for his rare ability to click such beautiful photos.
Son of a station manager in Nilgiri, Sitaram’s journey from Balasore to New York City to prove his mettle as a photographer is interesting.
His innovative and unique photography drew the attention of several prominent organizations including National Geographic Your Shot Community.
He was awarded the ‘Event Photographer of the year’ which carries a cash award of $500.
Although this month he was nominated for Discovery of the year 2019 award and found place among 13 best nominations but unfortunately t he couldn’t make it to the final round.
He claimed that his shot photographs found place in several reputed galleries, including one in Romania.
With his idols being some of the prominent wildlife photographers of India including Varun Aditya, Sudhir Sivraman and Dinesh Kumble, Sethi too aspires to be like one of them in the future.
However, his impediment is that he needs to buy a better quality camera.
Sritam had developed an interest in taking photos from his childhood and by seeing his interest and weakness towards photography, his father had bought a smart mobile phone after he passed his class X.
He used to click photos in his phone camera and post them in various sites besides his Facebook account.
‘All my photos were clicked in my phone where I fit high resolution lenses. I love nature and wildlife. Most of my photographs are related to that category,’ said Sitaram.
Now he is pursuing B-Parma and at the same time doing a course in photography.
If the government will provide him with financial aid, he can buy a high resolution camera to give shape to his dreams and bring laurels to the state, he said.
‘International photography awards are considered the most prestigious in the field of photography.
As per the announcement of the results, I am the first Indian to win a title in the non- professional category,’ said Sritam.
