Bhubaneswar, October 7 (LocalWire): Health authorities in Mayurbhanj district today sacked the driver of the ambulance, which ran out of oil while on its way to the hospital.
The pregnant tribal woman Tulasi Munda, who was being shifted to the hospital in that ambulance, died on the way on Saturday.
The incident had triggered a statewide furore.
The ambulance driver Harihar Naik was removed from the service for gross negligence of duty.
The woman in an advanced stage of pregnancy could not reach the hospital as the ambulance carrying her from Bangiriposi to Baripada was stranded on the way since it had run out of fuel.
While another ambulance was rushed to the spot to shift her, it was too late and the woman was received dead at the Baripada District Headquarters Hospital.
