Bhubaneswar, July 3 (LocalWire): The 19th anniversary of monthly family magazine ‘Kadambini’ and the 8th anniversary of ‘Kuni Katha’ were held on Tuesday.
Eminent poet, writer and litterateur Udayan Vajpayee graced the occasion as chief guest and said, ‘Lord Jagannath is the greatest artist of the world.’
Vajpayee was happy to get a glimpse of Lord Jagannath at Srimandir during his visit to Puri.
He saw the Lord has big eyes and opined that the Lord is astonished to see His own creation and that is why His eyes are so big.
‘Earlier, India was an artistic creation. After the advent of the colonial rule, the country transformed into agrarian country,’ he said.
There cannot be a society without literature and culture.
Even if we have developed a lot in science and technology, till art, culture and literature are not getting enough focus that this field deserves.
‘Where science ends, begins art, culture and literature. Besides, culture also contributes towards brotherhood,’ he said.
Renowned journalist Ashutosh Bhardwaj, the chief speaker said, ‘it would be appropriate to call tribals as ‘Jangalvasi’ (Forest dwellers) than ‘Adivasi’. They have their own gods and goddesses.
Urban people exploit the forest for mines and industry and therefore the tribals don’t acknowledge the city culture.
And hence, even they describe the culture and heritage of the mainstream in some different way.
Tribal people in Jharkhand are seen worshipping Mahisasura denouncing Goddess Durga.’
Addressing the gathering Bijaya Nayak, administrator and litterateur said, ‘Kadambini has created many small histories.
At times the magazine comes up with special issues which receive immense applause from the readers.’
