Berhampur, Dec15 (LocalWire): Discussions on different hormone-related diseases leading to diabetes, thyroid, obesity and other ailments dominated the three-day annual conference of Endocrine Society of Odisha (ESO) held at MKCG Medical College here.
Endocrinology is a branch of biology that deals with various hormones, including insulin, deficiency of which causes diabetes.
Experts from different departments across the country alongwith 500 participants attended the conference, which concluded today.
Governor Ganeshi Lal addressed the meet on Saturday and expressed concern over the rapid growth of diabetes.
‘Different topics such as how to manage diabetes, thyroid, bone health, electrolyte disorders and obesity were discussed,’ said Sunil Kota, the secretary of the scientific committee of the conference.
‘As there is an increase in the number of patients with hormonal disorders, we focused our discussion on these topics,’ said SR Patnaik, an endocrinologist and chairman of the organizing committee.
