Berhampur, Dec 6 (LocalWire) One more shelter home, allegedly run illegally at Chandragiri in Gajapati district, was closed down by the district administration on Thursday.
Pertinently, Ganjam district administration had shut down another illegal hostel at Aragui near Chhatrapur on Wednesday.
With these, four hostels, including two run by NGO Good News India (GNI), one each in Ganjam and Gajapati districts, have been shut so far, while verification of documents is going on at other shelter homes in both the districts.
Safe Hostel, located at Chandragiri and allegedly illegally run with the financial assistance from GNI, was closed down with handing over its 109 inmates to their parents, said Gajapati District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Aruna Kumar Tripathy.
Earlier, the district administration has shut down a shelter home of GNI at B. Sitapur and handed over its inmates to their parents.
“We are also in the process to close down two more such hostels in the district as they did not follow the standard guidelines, prescribed by the government to run homes with minors. Verification of documents is going on,” said Tripathy.
Ganjam DCPO Subodh Sarangi said the administration has closed down two illegally run shelter homes at Saheb Jenapalli and Aragui.
One of these homes, located at Saheb Jenapalli, as run by the GNI. Over 200 inmates of these homes were handed over to their parents, he said.
