Bhubaneswar, Aug 22 (LocalWire): The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has said that another low pressure is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday (August 23), with accompanying rain and thunderstorms.
The Meteorological Department issued a yellow warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts on Saturday.
As a result of the low pressure, winds up to nearly 50-60 kmph are expected in coastal Odisha.
Due to the low pressure, continuous rains are likely from 27th to the 29th August.
Balasore, Bhadrak, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Malkangiri are likely to receive heavy rains on 23rd August.
The amount of rainfall is likely to increase from 26th August.
Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Nabarangpur are likely to receive heavy rainfall.
Rain will continue on 25th and 26th August. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea from 26th August.
Pradeep Kumar Jena of the Special Relief Commission has directed the district magistrate to take precautionary measures against possible rains.
