Berhampur, Nov 19 (LocalWire) Anti-Maoist posters, condemning violence, surfaced in various parts of Baliguda in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Monday, said police.
The posters, issued on behalf of Anti-Naxal People Peace Force, District Committee, were found in two places in the town, where the organization held Maoists responsible for the present condition of the district, a police official said.
The development comes days after the rebels made an appeal to the people to cooperate with them and warned police informers.
The left-wing extremists (LWE) had also extended support to the ongoing farmers’ agitation led by Naba Nirmana Krushak Sagathan.
The anti-Maoist posters warned the ultras to stop atrocities towards innocent tribals and women. They also asked the rebels to stop cultivation of ganja in the district.
“Don’t be an obstacle to works of development in the tribal-dominated Kandhamal,” a poster read.
The posters also urged people to boycott the ultras in their respective villages.
Pertinently, some Maoist posters had recently appeared in Kotagarh police station limits.
