Bhubaneswar, October 24 (LocalWire): The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is leading over its nearest rival BJP in the Bijepur by-poll in Bargarh district as per the latest trends emerging from district election officer.
The BJD candidate Rita Sahu is reported to be leading by a margin of 65,572 votes over BJP’s Sanat Gadtia after the completion of the latest rounds of EVM counting.
While the BJD has so far received 90,353 votes, the BJP candidate has so secured only 24,781 votes. The Indian National Congress lags way behind with a meager 3,787 votes.
The by-poll in Bijepur assembly seat in Bargarh district was necessitated after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik resigned from the seat and retained the Hinjili assembly segment in Ganjam district.
