Burla (Sambalpur), February 9 (LocalWire): After being in controversy over his alleged erroneous therapies to patients, Dr Ashwini Pujahari has resigned as Director of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science & Research (VIMSAR). The resignation has been sent for Governor Ganeshi Lal’s approval, an official on Saturday said.
In a press conference, Dr Pujahari said that he had no other option than resigning as government remained silent on the issue even after he had answered the ‘show cause’ notice. He also recalled inception of several projects, betterment of the facilities and student involvement in his tenure during the press conference.
Pertinently, as many as 240 Medical degree students and 150 house surgeons were on protest demanding Dr Pujahari’s removal from the post.
According to sources, the students & surgeons have accused Dr Pujahari of using illegal treatment methods on patients. A video showing doctors putting salt into a patient’s stomach, had gone viral on social media following which government had issued ‘show cause’ notice against Dr. Pujahari.
Notably, a few localites came out in support of Dr Pujahari while all the surgeons demanded his outing.
