Jajpur,Oct 1 (LocalWire): Unknown miscreants last night damaged an Automated Teller Machine of State Bank of India at Ambika Chhack under Jajpur town police station and decamped with more than Rs 25 lakh.
Locals informed the police after they found a part of the ATM broken today morning. Preliminary investigations reveal that the men seemed to have used axes, gas cutters and hammers to smash the ATM.
The ATM has no security guard at night and the miscreants masked the CCTV camera and removed the screen of the area camera of the ATM.
The bank manager filed an FIR today in the police station that Rs 25,27600 cash was looted from the ATM.
Acting on the FIR, police conducted a spot inquiry with help of scientific team, said Jajpur Superintendent of Police, Charan Singh Meena.
‘We have registered a case against unknown people under Sections 380 (theft), 454 (lurking, house trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence), 457 (lurking, house trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and are on the lookout to nab the burglars,’ added the police officer.
