VP of Reliance Jio speaks at XIMBs media conclave

Illuminatix, the Media and PR Cell of XIMB, hosted its Annual Media Conclave Communiqué on 22nd November 2020 with the theme “Brand Storytelling – Fables with the power to change the world.”

The first speaker was Mr. Nilesh Mahajan – the Vice President of Reliance Jio. He spoke about the story of Reliance Jio as a brand, beginning from the inception of its very idea to the consumer insights that were crucial to building the brand.

The second speaker was Mr. Prashant Aneja – Senior Brand Manager at Flipkart. He elaborated on different aspects to brand storytelling that shaped consumers. Mr. Aneja also identified the pulse of brand storytelling through some iconic brand campaigns.

Mr. Shahbaaz Mohammed and Mr. Bodh Deb also offered their valuable inputs on the occasion.

The winners of the national level competitions held as a run-up for Communiqué were also felicitated with certificates and prizes within the conclave.

Retired army officer runs 100 km to honour corona warriors (update)

Bhubaneswar, Nov 23 (LocalWire): Retired army officer Siddharth Shankar Dash ran 100 km on Sunday to pay respect to corona warriors.

Dash began running at 4 am on Sunday from Dhenkanal and reached the Seventh Battalion headquarters in Bhubaneswar at 3 pm.

He covered Choudwar-Manguli square, Jagatpur and Cuttack.

The police, sports officer Pradipta Kumar Mohanty and other sports persons were present on his way to encourage him; the Collector of Dhenkanal felicitated Dash for his initiative.

Governor Ganeshi Lal’s wife passes away(Update)

Bhubaneswar, Nov 23 (LocalWire): Odisha governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal’s wife, Susheela Devi, passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar last night.

The Governor and five members of his family, including his wife, had tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov 1 and were undergoing treatment for the same at a private hospital in the capital city.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the death of Susheela Devi and conveyed his deep sympathy to the family.

Phase three human trial of Covaxin begins at SUM hospital

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (LocalWire): The phase three human trial of COVID-19 vaccine candidate Covaxin began at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on Friday.

It is the only institute in Odisha chosen by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for the human trial of the vaccine.

The trial is being conducted at 21 selected medical institutes across the country.

The indigenous vaccine is being developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR.

Odisha signs MoU to provide free cardiac treatment

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (LocalWire): The state government on Thursday signed an MoU with Prasanti Medical Services and Research foundation (PMSRF) for provision of free cardiac treatment services to poor children at the Satya Sai Heart Hospital in Ahmedabad for the next two years.

CM Naveen Patnaik, Orissa High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Health Minister Naba Kishore Das were present on the occasion amongst other dignitaries.

All pre- and post-operative care of patients is borne by the foundation, including medicines, stents, coils, etc.

Transport assistance is provided by the state government.

1019 children have undergone surgery and been cured of their heart ailments till now.

In appreciation of the effort by the foundation to serve humanity, the state government is renewing the MoU to help more people receive free treatment, the CM said on the occasion.

CAG elected external auditor for Inter-Parliamentary Union

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (LocalWire): Comptroller and Auditor-General of India, Odisha-born Girish Chandra Murmu, has been elected as the External Auditor of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva for a three-year period.

He will take charge of this position from the Supreme Audit Institution of Switzerland.

The election took place at the virtual meeting of the 284th session of the IPU, which is a 179 countries’ Parliamentarians body, including 13 associate members.

The IPU has permanent observer status at the UN General Assembly.

6 places in Odisha record temperature below 12 degrees

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10 (LocalWire): Six places in Odisha recorded a temperature below 12 degrees celsius, with Sonepur witnessing the lowest 9.2 degrees.

Bhawanipatna recorded 11 degrees, followed by Angul and Koraput at 10.8 and 10.6 degrees.

Phulbani and Daringbadi recorded 9.8 and 9.5 degrees respectively.

The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 17.4 and 16.4 degrees celsius respectively.

Cold wave sweeps state, 11 places record temp below 15

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8 (LocalWire): 11 places in Odisha recorded a temperature below 15 degrees celsius yesterday, the Met centre said today.

The lowest temperature was recorded in Sonepur at 9.6 degrees, followed by Phulbani and Daringbadi at 10.5 degrees.

Angul, Koraput and Bhawanipatna recorded 11, 11.6 and 12.2 degrees respectively, while Jharsuguda and Keonjhar recorded 13 and 13.8 degrees respectively.

Meanwhile, Baripada, Balangir and Sambalpur recorded 14.2, 14.6 and 14.7 degrees respectively.

The temperature remained within 20 degrees in the rest of the state.
