Bhubaneswar, May 3 (LocalWire): Even as cyclone Fani raged and shrieked outside today morning, the shrill cries of two newborns inside the Chatrapur Medical Centre in Ganjam and at a city hospital here rekindled hope of a better tomorrow.
Doctors and nurses named the baby girl born at Mancheswar Hospital here, Lady Fani.
The girl’s mother is a helping staff at the coach repair workshop in Mancheswar and both are in good health, Dr Arundhati Senapati, the medical director said.
The doctors who braved the apocalypse-like situation and helped deliver the baby were Dr Harihar Das O&G, Dr RK Mahapatra, Dr Sk Sirajuddin and Dr Majhi.
Both the mothers were shifted along with 539 other pregnant women to hospitals and medical centres by the pre-evacuation teams on Thursday. Tens of thousands of people were evacuated from low lying areas to relief shelters before Cyclone Fani made a landfall near Puri today.
