Balasore, September 28 (LocalWire): Dengue fever is spreading its tentacles in north Balasore with as many as 120 people detected with the disease from a sample of 1,450 patients.
However, according to the district health authorities, 94 out of the total detected cases were from outside the state, including 39 patients from Hyderabad and 30 from Bangalore.
With the number of dengue increasing by the day the locals and the administration are a worried lot.
According to sources, between 16 to 27 September over 24 people with the dengue virus have been detected. They are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Balasore, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar.
Of the 24 patients, 14 belong to Mohammadnagar Patna village and this has caused a panic among the villagers who have informed the district administration about it, demanding their urgent attention.
Following the reports, the district health authorities visited the area and have urged people to maintain cleanliness and use mosquito nets while sleeping.
The surge in the number of patients has also put the DHH under pressure since it has only six beds in the ward, and many patients have no options but to lie on the floor.
