Balasore, November 8 (LocalWire): Keeping in view the threat from cyclonic storm Bulbul, the district collector here held an emergency review meeting to take stock of the preparedness and asked all officials and departments to be on high alert.
The emergency review meeting was attended by officials of various departments.
Besides directing the officials to keep ready all 140 multipurpose and cyclonic centres, the district collector K Sudarshan Chakraverthy also asked district education officer to ensure that all schools remain open round the clock, today and tomorrow.
The teachers and staff have also been asked to remain present in the school for handling any emergency.
Chakraverthy stressed on ensuring that serviceable generators are available wherever possible, including in the cyclone shelters, hospitals and health centres.
The rescue and evacuation teams operating under NDRF, ODRAF and the fire brigade have also been asked to remain alert, while the civil supply department has been directed to ensure adequate foodstuff, water and other materials.
Similarly, the CDMO has been directed to keep enough stock of medicines and halogen tablets at all hospitals. Instructions have also been issued to admit all pregnant women expecting delivery in the nearest health centres.
The district administration has also cancelled leave of all the doctors and they have been asked to remain present in the hospitals and not to leave their service place.
Keeping in view the possible impact on crop, the district agriculture officer has been asked to inform farmers about the threat due to cyclone and rain through the public announcement system in the rural areas.
The CDVO too asked to ensure that there are adequate food and fodder for the cattle and livestock.
