Sambalpur, Dec 10 (LocalWire): Normal life at Burla was disrupted by a 12-hour bandh called by the Sachetana Nagarika Manch (SNM) protesting government action against Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) director Ashwini Pujahari.
This comes three days after the state government on Friday served Pujahari a show-cause notice and asked him to remain on leave until a decision was taken after receiving his reply.
The SNM took to streets demanding the reinstatement of Prof Pujahari as VIMSAR director till his retirement.
The activists resorted to protest from the early morning, staging road blockade and picketing.
All trading establishments, government offices and educational institutions remained closed while vehicular movement came to a grinding halt.
Several organisations and civil societies supported the bandh.
Pujahari has reportedly been indicted for alleged unethical clinical practice by a four-member inquiry committee.
The inquiry committee submitted its report to the Odisha government Thursday evening.
