Bhubaneswar, Dec 17 (LocalWire): The Railways have decided to run a special train from Bangalore to Howrah to facilitate the stranded passengers and also balance the train movement, East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials said here.
The 02864 Bangalore-Howrah special train left Bangalore at 1000 hrs today and will arrive at Howrah at 1845hrs on Wednesday.
Another special train 02818 will leave Mysore at 0030hrs on 18 December (just after midnight of 17 December) and will arrive at Howrah at 1400hrs on Thursday.
The agitation in Howrah-Kharagpur Railway section is being observed and some trains are being cancelled due to cancellation of connecting trains from various stations. ‘Situation is under observation. Today, train movement to Howrah is normal,’ the sources said.
The trains were cancelled as fallout of disturbance to train operations on 13 and 14 December. As train links are involved, this cascaded the train operations and led to such a situation, they added.
