Bolangir, Jan 31 (LocalWire):Responding to the call of two days of strike across the country by the United Forum of Bank Union, the members of the State Bank of India’s Staff Association in the Balangir region staged demonstration in front of the main branch of the State Bank of India, Bolangir.
The demonstration was led by Secretary Rohit Satpathy and Rupesh Dalai.
“We are on strike. Our main demands include wage revision and five working days instead of six, besides twelve other demands,” says Rohit Satpathy, the Regional Secretary of SBI Staff Association, Bolangir.
Satpathy further informed LocalWire that unless their demands are fulfilled, they are going to hold numerous protests in March and have decided to go on an indefinite strike in April.
The strike has been announced for today and tomorrow.
However, service at private banks such as AXIS, ICICI and HDFC will remain unhindered. Around 10 Lakh bank employees are expected to join the pan-India strike.
