Berhampur, October 4 (LocalWire): Over Rs 75-crore was disbursed by various banks under the two day-customer outreach programme at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district headquarter town here.
As many as 22 banks, including 19 nationalised participated in the programme that was lead by the Andhra Bank.
The loans were sanctioned for different sectors by the banks during the last 20 days, the district lead bank manager Ashok Kumar Panda said.
The programme was inaugurated by Ganjam collector Vijay Amruta Kulange and it was attended by senior bank officials, including Andhra Bank general manager Bramhanand Reddy.
The customer outreach initiative is one of the steps taken by the state government to take banking to the general public.
The initiative also aims at enhancing awareness about various banking products and to ensure credit off-take as quickly as possible to overcome the sluggishness in credit growth.
It also provided an opportunity for the customers to meet the bankers for their need-based loans.
A discussion was also held on the loan facilities extended by banks to students, traders, home buyers, farmers, vehicle buyers, loans and advances under MSME and Mudhra schemes, and for the Self Help Groups.
