Berhampur, June 25 (LocalWire): Ganjam district administration on Thursday sealed a coaching center, functioning at Gajapati Nagar in Berhampur, for violating the social distancing norms, while Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has started to install barricades in different areas in the city to restrict the movement of vehicles during the lockdown period.
Steps were taken to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, while the district registered a total of 1089 positive cases with 58 fresh cases reported on Thursday.
Of the new cases, eight were from the BeMC areas, which included three COVID warriors and five in active contact cases, sources said.
“We have decided to install barricades in at least 12 major places in the BeMC area,” said BeMC commissioner Chakravart Singh Rathore.
The barricades would be made in the major market areas in the city to control the vehicle movement and traffic control to avoid crowds in the market areas, he said.
Meanwhile, the district administration sealed a coaching centre in the town.
The coaching center was sealed as it allegedly violated the social distancing, said sub-collector, Berhampur, Dattatraya Bhausaheb.
Moreover, the government has also restricted the opening of any educational institution, including coaching centers presently.
District administration declared a complete shutdown from 12 noon to the next day at 7 am, while allowing the people for marketing from 7 am to 12 noon.
The order was issued by the administration on June 14 and will continue till June 30.
Meanwhile, district administration declared several offices of the Rangeilunda block, including tehsil, sub registered, block development and its adjoining areas in Kanishi near here as containment zones.
The areas have been declared as the containment zones after some staff of these offices has tested positive for the Covid-19, sources said.
