Jagatsinghpur, April 1 (LocalWire): The agitation by the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) activists protesting the selection of Prasant Muduli for Jagatsinghpur Assembly seat continued for the second day today.
Supporters of Amarendra Das, who aspired for the BJD ticket from Jagatsinghpur intensified their stir by blocking roads and burning tyres thus paralysing movement of vehicular traffic in different areas of Jagatsinghpur and Nagauon areas.
Soon after the declaration of Balikuda Erasama sitting MLA’s name yesterday by the party supremo Naveen Patnaik, hundreds of irate youth resorted to ransacking the BJD zilla party office, tearing banners and damaging vehicles parked in the office premises.
Later, they also blocked the Biju Patnaik Chowk at Jagatsinghpur town and College Chowk at Cuttack-Nuagaon National Highway throwing traffic off-gear.
Harried supporters of Das alleged the selection of Muduli to be ‘fixed’ since Das, who had strengthened the stronghold of BJD in this seat, was ignored and the ticket handed over to the sitting MLA of Balikuda Erasama.
