Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 (LocalWire) With unlawful parking and fee collection in off-street areas of the state capital reaching alarming proportion, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) swung into action mode issuing direction to stop levying of illegal parking charges in exempted areas with immediate effect.
“The developers/owners are hereby directed to stop the illegal practice of charging parking fee from visitors immediately,” an order issued by BDA said here.
The orders were issued to different establishments such as commercial buildings, shopping malls, multiplexes, hospitals, apartments and housing projects is consistent with provisions of the BDA (Planning & Building Standards) Regulations, 2018, it said.
“Such misuse of parking results in on-street parking which adversely affects traffic movement”, the order said adding the BDA (P&BS) Regulations, 2018 prescribes that mandatory off-street parking shall be provided in commercial buildings.
Apart from designated sites, where BMC will levy fees for parking, other establishments could not collect parking charges despite own parking slots inside and outside their premises.
The BDA had also asked the property developers and owners to abide by the mandatory off-street parking provisions in the approved building plan and any deviations in the parking provisions shall be restored by the owners as per the provisions of approved building plan, it said.
