Bhubaneswar, Dec 2 (LocalWire): Cracking the whip on corrupt practices in public offices, the state government today suspended a state-cadre civil servant and two sitting sarpanchs.
Rabindra Satpathy, block development officer of Harabhanga block in Boudh district, was suspended after corroborative evidence with regard to misappropriation of government-funded housing scheme was found against him, said Panchayatiraj minister Pratap Jena.
The sarpanch of Kedarpur gram panchayat in Sora block of Balasore district was also suspended on charges of embezzling grants for gram panchayat development.
Basant Sahu, Sarpanch of Ankorada gram panchayat in Digapahandi block of Ganjam district, who faced charges of amassing movable and immovable assets by the vigilance inquiry, was also removed from the post for corrupt practices, he said.
As part of government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corrupt practice in government offices, the government has so far dismissed 44 officers and employees from service while handing out compulsory premature retirement to 10 other government officers in the past two months as directed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he added.
